Conducting Diploma Course in Wildlife Management

The Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC) conducts a nine months diploma course in Wildlife Management for wildlife rangers to enhance their capacity through the National Wildlife Research and Training Centre (NWRTC) located at Girithale. The diploma course was initially held in 1993 with the technical assistance of Wildlife Institute of India (WII) with the objective of imparting knowledge to the officers on conserving wildlife resources. At the beginning two courses were conducted by the WII and then by with the collaboration of the University of Colombo (UOC). Two courses were conducted by the University and then from the NWRTC.
