With rising demands in development, Matara district is facing challenging situations in environment conservation and development requirements. There is greater need in Matara for the landscape management approach as introduced by ESCAMP.
A familiarizing workshop was held in Matara on March 02, 2021 organised by ESCAMP for officials of stakeholder government institutes. The objective was to introduce the initials plans drawn for the Sinharaja Landscape Management plan.
The officials raised and discussed many issues conflicting between environment conservation and people’s needs.
