The first Planning Committee meeting was held under component 1 – Pilot Landscape Planning and Management at the Danawwa Resort, Habarana on the 31st of October, 2017.
The regional and local level Officers nominated by stakeholder institutions were invited for the workshop. The main purpose of this awareness meeting was to actively engage the Regional and Local level key stakeholders who are already involved in development and conservation activities in the selected project areas.
The main objective of this workshop was to create awareness on Landscape Management Planning (LMP) process and their role in carrying out this task. The role of this committee will be gathering information on ongoing and future development plans/programs implemented in the project area and identification of critical environmental issues related to the targeted landscape. This training exercise expects to build up capacity and develop skills of stakeholders to apply their knowledge in planning of other landscapes. Around forty-five (45) participants attended this workshop.
