A Training Workshop on Monitoring and Implementation of Environment and Social Safeguard Aspects was conducted on the 16th of February 2018 at the Danawwa Resort Habarana for the officials of the Forest Department.
Regional Deputy Conservators of Forests, District Forest officers, Regional Forest Officers, Beat Forest Officers, Field Officers and Extension Officers from Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Kandy, Matale, Kurunegala, Puttlam and Manner divisions attended the Workshop.
Training was conducted by Mr. Susruthe Goonasekara – Social Development Consultant, World Bank; Ms. Maheeni Samarakoon – Environment and Social Safeguard Specialist, ESCAMP; and Mr. Ranil Nanayakkara – Environment Officer, ESCAMP. The objectives of the Workshop were to create awareness among the Forest Department officers on environment and social safeguard monitoring aspects, and the process of grievance redress mechanism.
