The World Bank Mission undertook the 4th Implementation Support and Proposed Additional Financing Preparation Mission from May 21st – June 1st, 2018 to assess the implementation support activities of the Ecosystem Conservation and Management Project (ESCAMP). The meeting also conducted preparation discussion for the additional financing operation to be financed by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) of the Government of United Kingdom. During this period the mission team met with relevant officials from the ESCAMP Project Management Unit; the Project Executing Agencies (Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment (MoMDE), and Ministry of Sustainable Development, Wildlife and Regional Development (MoSDWRD)); and the Project Implementing Agencies (Forest Department (FD) and Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC)).
The Wrap-up Meeting of this Mission was held on the 1st of June, 2018 at the conference hall of the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment. The meeting was co-chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Wildlife and Regional Development. The mission programme comprised of meetings related to the activities of the project concluded successfully with the Wrap-up Meeting addressing issues concerning ESCAMP and the two implementing Agencies.
